B2 James Eddy Administrative law judge James Stone Eddy, a judge and San Rafael resident, died Nov. 12 in Salt Lake City of a heart attack. He was 79. Born in Berkeley, Mr. Eddy also lived in Sacramento and Mill Valley. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley and Hastings Law School. He worked as a lawyer in private practice in Sacramento, served as assistant U. S. attorney in Sacramento, worked for the Public Utilities Commission in Mill Valley and the state Unemployment Appeals Board in San Francisco and Oakland, and was an administrative law judge. He retired in 1984. He also served as a captain in the U. S. Army, earning a bronze star, purple heart, combat infantry badge and distinguished unit citation. He was a member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. In college, he enjoyed fencing. He is survived by his daughters, Margaret Rose Crow, Janet Ricaud Wakefield, Elizabeth Stone Eddy and Abbyanna Fay Gehrke; a sister, Margaret Eleanor Weil; and two grandchildren. Services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Keaton's Mortuary,1022 E St., San Rafael.
