  Robert F. Eddy Jr., 63, of Riverside, died unexpectedly Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002 at home. He was the husband of Barbara J. (McCann) Eddy. Born in Providence, a son of the late Robert F. Sr. and Deborah (Powers) Eddy, he had lived in Riverside for 30 years, previously living in Barrington for 30 years. A tugboat captain, he worked for the Providence Steamboat Co. for 31 years until retiring in 2000. Captain Eddy was a member of the East Providence Harbor Management Commission. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Eddy Family Association. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and exploring the wilderness. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Wayne A. Eddy of Cheshire, Conn. and tugboat captain D. Scott Eddy of Warwick; two daughters, Joyce Eddy Reid of Barrington and Sarah F. Eddy of Warwick; a brother, Stuart W. Eddy of Riverside; two sisters, Pheobe E. Horne of Windham, Maine and Deborah Plummer of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; and nine grandchildren. He was a brother of the late Jesse P. Eddy IV. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 in the Barrington Congregational Church, County Road. Burial will be private.
