Catherine C. Eddy, 87, of Peru, Ind., passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at Dukes Continuing Care Center in Peru. She was born Dec. 29, 1913 in Steubenville, OH, a daughter of T. Fred and Mary (Foley) Shannon. On June 25, 1938, at Steubenville, she married Lucian B. Eddy and he preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 1993.
She attended St. Mary's at Notre Dame, was a graduate of the University of Michigan and received her Master's Degree in Education from Siena Heights College in Adrian, Mich. From 1958 to 1964, she taught English and French at Metamora High School. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Peru, Delta Delta Delta Sorority, University of Michigan Alumni Assn., The OH Retired Teacher's Assn., The National Retired Teacher's Assn. and the Altar Rosary Society. She moved to Peru in 1978 from Marion, OH.
Eddy is survived by: sons Thomas (LaVonne) Eddy, Peru; Bruce (Eileen) Eddy, Graham, Wash.; John (Chris) Eddy, of Highland Ranch, Colo.; sister Ruth (Donald) Lees of Karne City, Pa.; grandchildren Timothy, Thomas Jr., Catlin, Meghan, Shannon, and Jennifer Eddy; and great-grandchildren T.J., Scott, Clara, Madeleine, Zoe, and T. Fred Eddy. In addition to her husband, Lucian, she was preceded in death by her brother Thomas F. Shannon.
The funeral service was held on Saturday, Sept. 22 at St. Charles Catholic Church, Peru, with the Rev. John Zahn officiating. Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Peru. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
The Elkenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, Peru, was in charge of arrangements.
